Jay GaryI'm always interested in hearing stories of how you first connected to APF. In asking others this question, it inevitably goes back to hearing an "I met" story. The story begins with an encounter and develops into a connection that impacts the future. I met Peter Bishop--one of APF's founders two decades ago, and his expertise helped me create a masters and doctoral program in strategic foresight that has produced over 100 graduates since that time. As a professional futurist, what is your "I met" story? And how are you connecting to others this week, to pay it forward?  - Jay Gary

July 1st is renewal date for most APF members. If you need to renew, sign onto with your email and password. You should see a yellow banner on your screen directing you to renew. We now receive membership dues from any source: credit cards, debit, ACH payments and PayPal. Write Kimberly at if you need help. If you think you already renewed your membership, you can always check your status under your Profile setting, Payments & History tab --> Membership tab, or go to:

Imagine making "I met" connections with academic and professional futurists from across the Americas, from Canada to Argentina. Join APF in Mexico City the 2nd week of September. Register by July 5th and save 30%. The theme of our ProDev, Sept 9-10, is "The Praxis of Professional Futurists." Confirmed speakers include Riel Miller, Cindy Frewen, and Fabienne Goux-Baudiment. Through a combination of panels, networking and case studies we will explore how foresight professionals practice their craft as both organizational and consulting futurists. This ProDev workshop precedes the 23rd World Conference of World Futures Studies Federation (WFSF). The conference, Sept 10-13th is hosted by WFSF and sponsored by APF. More than 130 sessions are scheduled, with 20 APF members presenting, including including Rosa Alegria, Guillermina Baena Paz, Guillermina Benavides, Linda Groff, Ted Fuller, Jay Gary, Maggie Greyson, Chris Jones, Luke van der Laan, Tom Lombardo, Claire Nelson, Jordi Serra, John Sweeney, and Jaqueline Weigel. As an APF member you are entitled to register for WFSF at their related institution member prices. Register by July 6th and save 30% off APF's ProDev fee.

APF joins the Public Sector Foresight Network and the Federal Foresight Community of Interest in Northern Virginia, Wednesday, July 31st for a day-long workshop on foresight. APF Members may register FREE, at no charge, by July 8th for in-person attendance, or by July 24th for virtual participation. Confirmed speakers include APF members Jim Dator, Frank Spencer and Yvette Montero Salvatico.

Seventy days ago APF launched it's new online platform to combine our front-end public website with our back-end member-only community. To date 65% of our members have logged in. The new platform unites all our online resources, including your member profile, our public website, weekly news, events, social networking, career center, discussion forums, and regional groups. Catch this 2-minute launch video that shows you the "LinkedIn" type features of the new APF. Every day when you visit you will find "Your Feed" of activity from your connections.

Don't miss out on the new APF, where your membership means multiplying your social contacts with foresight professionals to advance your career and impact. To date Cindy Frewen has made 246 connections; Bryan Alexander has posted 20 times, either to his own Feed, or to the community wide APF Forum.
