About the Event

About the session: Adventures in Science Fiction Prototyping

In this talk, 2022 IF award winner Andrew Merrie will share his adventures with Science Fiction Prototyping including the origin and impact of the Radical Ocean Futures project, subsequent work that has spun off from that starting point, and learnings and reflections of being involved in futures work at the intersection of science and society.

Our Speaker: Dr. Andrew Merrie

"We can't carbon calculate our way out of this, we need imagination. What's more, we need radical imagination. Bringing together science, art, music, culture, progressive business, and activism is fuel for generating this desperately needed radical imagination for envisioning and enacting better futures"

Originally from New Zealand, Dr. Andrew Merrie completed both his MSc & PhD in Sustainability Science at the Stockholm Resilience Centre, Stockholm University. At Planethon, his work focuses on applying insights from science to support sustainable transformation. This involves a combination of science, imagination & storytelling to build futures literacy and transformational strategy for companies & organisations.
